The production of all Mercedes cars in Germany will run on CO2-free energy by 2022, according to parent company Daimler. The carmaker said it was 鈥渢he first major industrial company鈥 to source electricity from German wind farms whose feed-in tariffs expire after 2020. Daimler said a corresponding power purchase agreement with Europe鈥檚 largest renewable operator, Norwegian Statkraft, marked a 鈥渘ew era for renewable energies in Germany鈥 and 鈥渆nsures the continued operation of six community-owned wind farms鈥 with a total of 31 turbines.
