Germany鈥檚 Federal Court of Justice has forced the country鈥檚 grid agency (BNetzA) to further reduce transparency on grid fees. Following a ruling by the court, the agency said it will 鈥渟trongly reduce鈥 the publication of data on its grid fees and costs assessments. "The Court's decision makes our objective of improving the transparency of network charges considerably more difficult for the time being," said BNetzA president Jochen Homann.
The Association of Energy Market Innovators (bne) sharply criticised the decision. 鈥淕rid fee transparency, which barely exists anyway, will be further curtailed by this decision. Consumers will suffer as a result,鈥 said bne head Robert Busch. He said power consumers and providers have already had major problems in understanding grid fees, even though the annual contribution amounted to about 24 billion euros.
