Update: 威力彩玩法 has compiled a list of contacts for journalists ahead of the UN Climate Change Conference in Katowice (COP24).

Against the backdrop of the upcoming COP24 climate conference in Poland, the 威力彩玩法 is inviting journalists to a media study tour that takes a closer look at how Poland is dealing with the political, economic and social implications of creating a climate-friendly economy.
During the four-day study tour we will talk to government ministers and policy-makers, journalists, business leaders and energy policy experts, meet anti-pollution activists and clean energy innovators, visit companies investing in electric mobility and discuss the future of Poland鈥檚 energy system with students of a mining school.

Our study tour comes at a time of heated discussions in Poland over the country鈥檚 long-term industrial competitiveness, energy security and a reduction of fuel imports from neighbouring Russia, as well as a nation-wide debate over how to reduce toxic levels of air pollution.

Update

Due to a number of questions about our selection process, we鈥檇 like to give a little of background here:听

We have received around 60 applications from dedicated and qualified journalists. Unfortunately, we can only offer 15 places on our study tour due to the fact that the 威力彩玩法 covers nearly all the travel expenses, accommodation, transportation, translation and food from its foundation-funded budget. We aim to have a mixed group of journalists from different countries, media and media formats as well as a mix of returning participants and newcomers.

Key questions guiding the programme:

  • Who is driving Poland鈥檚 transformation towards cleaner energies 鈥 is it government strategies, anti-pollution activists, clean energy entrepreneurs, or a mix of all?
  • What strategy is Poland鈥檚 government actually pursuing in meeting the country鈥檚 obligations under the Paris Climate Agreement and the EU climate policy framework?
  • What are the socio-economic implications of climate policy in Poland? In a country that still has some 90.000 coal miners, is the idea of a 鈥渏ust transition鈥 more than a catch phrase?
  • What is the potential of building up new low-carbon industries such as offshore wind or electric mobility in Poland? Could they provide the alternatives to high-emissions heavy industries?

We invite journalists ...

... with a professional background in climate and energy policy to apply for participation in the study tour.

We accept applications from journalists working for media in the following countries: European Union member states, Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Belarus, China, Kosovo, Macedonia, Serbia, Turkey, Ukraine, and United States.

Local transport during the workshop will be organised by the 威力彩玩法. Participants are kindly asked to organise their own travel to and from Poland. The study tour will start nearby Warsaw Main Station and will end at Katowice Main Station.

Also consider carefully whether you may be able to access any additional external sources of funding.
