Siemens, Shell, grid operator call for extra offshore wind tenders to produce hydrogen

Engineering conglomerate Siemens, oil giant Shell and German grid operator TenneT have called for stepping up the country鈥檚 plans to roll out offshore wind, in order to produce hydrogen using power-to-gas technology. 鈥淭his is how the new 2030 government targets for the roll-out of renewables and the global climate targets can be achieved in a realistic way,鈥 the聽. They added that offshore wind still had untapped potential, and that green hydrogen would play a role in a future energy mix. The companies propose new tenders tailored specifically to hydrogen production using offshore wind power, in order to get hydrogen production market-ready in a short time, a strategy proposed in a study by E-Bridge commissioned by the companies.
