Leading German industry group strongly opposes push to raise EU鈥檚 2030 emissions reduction goal

The European Commission鈥檚 proposal to raise the EU鈥檚 2030 greenhouse gas emissions reduction target from 40 percent to 45 percent relative to 1990 levels is misguided, Federation of German Industries (BDI) Deputy Director Holger L枚sch says in a statement. 鈥淪tricter EU climate goals bring nothing. We reject the idea of the EU going it alone,鈥� he says. 鈥淚nstead of talking about ever more ambitious goals, it is imperative now to focus on the tools with which the existing goals can be achieved.鈥�
