鈥淏uild an e-car that鈥檚 at least half as sexy as a Tesla,鈥漞conomy minister Altmaier tells German carmakers
Germany鈥檚 economy and energy minister Peter Altmaier has urged the country鈥檚 mighty carmakers to finally 鈥渂uild an e-car that鈥檚 at least half as sexy as a Tesla,鈥� the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung reports. At a high-level debate with Volkswagen CEO Herbert Diess and Daimler CEO Dieter Zetsche, Altmaier said that 鈥淕erman cars always used to be sexy鈥� and that he finds himself asking if this would continue to be the case in light of the shift to e-cars. 鈥淵ou could definitely come up with a few fresh ideas as far as the attractiveness of your e-cars goes,鈥� Altmaier said. He added that German carmakers were still 鈥渁bsolutely great in developing, building, and selling high-class vehicles,鈥� and could catch up with competitors from the US or Asia.
