EU climate commissioner says climate targets no danger for industry

Germany's industry should not be worried about the European commission's proposal for a climate-neutral Europe by 2050, according to EU climate and energy commissioner Miguel Arias Canete. 鈥淥ur strategy aims to show how industry can pave the way to climate-neutrality using modern technologies without losing its competitiveness,鈥� Canete writes in a guest column for business daily Handelsblatt. He assures energy-intensive businesses and their employees that he understands their concerns and that the EU 鈥渨ill not leave European industry alone,鈥� but instead boost innovation and support sectors that are heavily exposed to international competition. The shift to a climate-neutral Europe will boost the economy, writes Canete.
