Digitalisation of energy transition makes only slow progress – report

Digitalisation is key for the success of Germany’s energy transition, but progress remains slow, says . Implementing the 2016 law on the digitalisation of the energy transition “lags in many areas,” meaning “the legal timeframe and real progress on the digitalisation of the energy transition diverge; more time will be necessary than originally planned,” states the report.

“Digitalisation changes existing structures, processes and solutions fundamentally. This requires a new way of thinking and acting from all participants, which has not yet been widely accepted,” the report says. “The digitalisation of the energy transition is a large and complex infrastructure project in a dynamically changing environment, and affects a wide variety of technologies, market players, authorities and interest groups. This requires a new type of cooperation between all parties involved.”
