Merkel disposes of strongest dissent with Greens
With her remarks on the 鈥渞ight approach鈥 of banning combustion engine cars sometime in the future, German Chancellor Angela Merkel not only 鈥渃aptured an election topic for herself鈥, but also 鈥渄isposed of the strongest dissent with the Green Party for a possible coalition after the elections鈥, writes Markus Balser in S眉ddeutsche Zeitung. However, in a letter to Merkel, seen by S眉ddeutsche, Green Party frontrunners Cem 脰zdemir and Katrin G枚ring-Eckardt criticise the government for being 鈥渕uch too hesitant鈥 with the transport transition and call on the chancellor to 鈥渂ring her policy in line with her rhetorical targets鈥, writes Balser.
