Discount supermarket chain Aldi S眉d recognised for climate protection efforts

German discount supermarket chain Aldi S眉d has been honoured by German environment minister Barbara Hendricks for its efforts to integrate climate protection into its business practices, the Federal Ministry for the Environment (BMUB) said in a press release. 鈥淐limate protection and economic success are not mutually exclusive,鈥� Hendricks said as she welcomed the food discounter to the . The BMUB says Aldi S眉d uses solar panels to power over 1,250 of its stores, provides e-car charging posts to its customers free of charge at several locations, and saved over 10 million kilowatt hours of power through energy management in 2016.
