Swiss start-up Climeworks has pioneered the direct air capture technology (DAC) with which CO₂ can be removed from the atmosphere and subsequently be recycled, used as a raw material, or completely removed from the air by underground storage. In September 2021, Climeworks launched 鈥溾�� the world鈥檚 first and largest DAC plant with permanent storage via 鈥溾��, in Iceland.
